*** Where have the weeks been going? I am sorry that I did not update last week with a post as to the classes' learning. Here's hoping I can get back on track.
Math - We have been focusing on writing numbers in word form, expanded form and demonstrating them with base ten models and drawings. We ended the week with comparing numbers and deciding "greater than" and "less than"
Reading - This week we began Chapter 2 of Cricket in Times Square. We having been reading it orally, discussing it, practising vocabulary and answering questions both in written form and on the computer. We have also complete our second spelling unit.
Writing - We finished our autobiographies last week and the "published" version went home this Friday. We have begun working on developing our visual skills to help us with writing a descriptive paragraph.
Science - As a class we have just finished our fist chapter of the light and sound unit. There will be a light and sound quiz on Monday. ** Grade 3s have just begun a special ""mini-unit" on structures to be completed next week.
Socials - The class just completed a quiz on Canada and have now begun working on a class project for Heritage Fair.
Health and Careers - we have been discussing Canada's Food Guide and portion sizes. We have continued to work on fostering relationships through being Big Buddies to Mrs. Beatty's kindergarten.
Computers - We have just completed our Passport to the Internet Unit. Well done! Completed passports to be issued in the coming weeks.
