Math - we wrote our math test on adding with carrying and subtracting with regrouping.  We began working on demonstrating multiplication with arrays and the relationship of the times tables (4x3 = 3x4)
Reading - ongoing work on Cricket in Times Square.  We have completed chapter 7 work and have read chapter 8.
Writing - students are to have completed their rough draft of their short (3 paragraph minimum) descriptive story.  We will be typing it in the computer lab and working on computer editing skills with it.
Science - we are near completion on the properties of light.  We just began discussing how white light contains a spectrum of coloured light within it.  A test will be upcoming.
Socials - ongoing Heritage Fair project work.  Yellow newsletter sent home with important socials information on Friday march 30th.  Bottom portion of socials newsletter to be returned please.
HCE - we discussed beverages and sugar in beverages.  We found out that 1 can of pop contains 1o teaspoons (or 10 sugar cubes) worth of sugar and that Canada's food guide recommends we have no more than 13 teaspoons of sugar a day betwen ALL meals and beverages!

Math - we spent the week focused on additon with regrouping and subtracting with borrowing with numbers as large as thousands.  We will have a brief review and then test these concepts after spring break.
Reading - Ongoing novel study Cricket in Times Square.  We have just learned a Chinese legend about the creation of the cricket.
Writing - we have been finishing our alliteration poems and getting them into good copy.
Spelling - ongoing word practice.
Science - we discussed refraction of light and completed an experiment aimed at teaching us why we need to know about light refraction for spear fishing.
Socials - continuation of Heritage Fair work.  The clas is making posters from their complied information to then display.
Health and Career - no updates this week :(

Math - this week we focused on adding 2 and 3 digit numbers with regrouping
Reading - We are continuing with Cricket in Time Square and ongoing
spelling
Writing - we have been working on alliteration as a device to add description to our writing
Science - more on the properties of light.  Ask your child about transparent,
translucent and opaque as well as how light transmition effects absorbtion.
Socials - ongoing research with Mrs. Hawkins
Computers - ongoing work in the successmaker lab!!
