January 16 - 20 "The too cold, inside recess and lunch week"

Math - we have been focusing on the correct spelling of number words to the thousands place. 
Reading - working on reading for information and adding to the CAFE menu with a new item: Monitor and Fix Up
Writing - we have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on our autobiographies.  Some exceptional work in our class!
Science - we have been learning about light as a form of energy and about natural light sources.
Socials - students are working on mapping Canada.  A quiz on this will occur next Wednesday!
HCE - we have begun a unit on healthy eating and have been focusing on serving size verses portion size.  We have also been working on being a good role model through our Big Buddy program :)
Art - we are beginning to look at pattern and rhythm in art and how they are demonstrated as well as the different ways they may occur
Computers - we are just finishing our passport to the Internet and have completed work on using the Internet to search for information

Welcome Back and happy 2012.  I hope you all enjoyed your break. 
Math - we began our new unit in Math on place value this week.  We reviewed and practised place value to the 1000s.
Reading - we reviewed the CAFE strategies explored so far and refreshed our memories on how to answer written questions.
Writing - this week we completed our last written project, My time Capsule,  for our Autobiography unit.  We will be creating "published" books next week.
Science - we began a new unit on Light and Sound and will be exploring the properties of these two important parts of physical science.
Socials - mapping Canada and Heritage Fair studies
HCE - put off until next week
Computers - We finished another module of Passport to the Internet regarding being aware of advertising on the Internet and how to tell advertisements from information.  To be reviewed next week.
